Raymond Barrett

Managing Editor, PaRR

As Managing Editor, Raymond oversees PaRR’s global editorial operations and manages a team of regional editors and reporters in the Americas, Europe and Asia. Currently based in Hong Kong, he was previously PaRR’s Washington Bureau Chief. Raymond uses his extensive international experience to bring a unique perspective to global regulatory risk challenges. Previously, Raymond was a reporter in Washington and the Middle East for Ireland’s Sunday Business Post where he wrote extensively on a broad array of geo-political and economic issues. He has also written for the New York Times, the Guardian, Haaretz, and Foreign Policy. Raymond is the author of Dubai Dreams: Inside the Kingdom of Bling.

John Brokos

Head of Research, Asia-Pacific, PaRR Asia

John comes to PaRR with over 10 years of experience as an equity and credit analyst, developing complex databases and managing global teams of analysts for Dealreporter and Debtwire, products of Acuris. He has superior knowledge of competition law around the world, and has played a crucial role in the building of an unmatchable M&A regulatory database in Asia, EU and North America over the last decade. John joined Dealreporter’s parent company, Mergermarket, in June 2001 as an M&A researcher before moving across to assist in building the analytical side of the Dealreporter product. He is currently Head of Research for both of Acuris’s hedge fund products, Dealreporter and Debtwire. He is also instrumental in the research and development process for new hedge fund-specific analytical content. Most recently he supervised the launch of “Dividend Outlook” in Europe and Australia, launched Post-Deal databases globally and worked on a build-out of various data sets for Debtwire Analytics.

Luuk de Klein

Head of Analytics EMEA

Luuk works from our Brussels office, where he examines all aspects of antitrust enforcement and coordinates our global analytics reporting as well as covering EU and national courts. Luuk has covered competition law across a wide range of jurisdictions since 2016. Prior to joining PaRR, he had stints in public affairs consultancies in Brussels, as well as at a competition economics firm in Germany. He studied History and European Studies in Amsterdam and Brussels. Luuk speaks Dutch, English, German and French and dabbles in Italian and Portuguese.

Jeremy Fleming-Jones

Editor and Brussels Bureau Chief, EMEA, PaRR Europe

With a decade of experience covering Brussels legal and political scene, Jeremy is a journalist with roots working as a solicitor in the City of London. Jeremy returned to legal sector journalism at PaRR from EurActiv, where he covered finance, trade and tech regulatory issues at the multilingual on-line news site. After working as a corporate litigator with Travers Smith Braithwaite, Jeremy became City correspondent for the Law Society Gazette. In 2005, he set up European Lawyer magazine’s Brussels bureau, and has covered regulatory and political issues affecting trade and competition freelance for Europolitics, the UK Press Association, Financial Times and Strategic Risk magazine.

Sylwester Frazzoni

Research & Legal Editor

Sylwester has been with PaRR since 2014 in both commercial and editorial roles and now works as a Research & Legal Editor in our London office managing the data offering and covering UK antitrust.

He holds an MA in EU Competition Law from King’s College, London. While at King’s College, he edited the King’s Student Law Review’s Financial and Commercial Law blog. 

Before joining PaRR, Sylwester spent five years working in digital publishing, including at another competition law news service in London. Sylwester is a native Polish speaker and speaks some Russian and Italian.

Craig Kelly

Head of Sales - Europe

As Head of Sales for Activistmonitor and PaRR in Europe, Craig applies his detailed knowledge of antitrust and activism to drive sales and manage the sales team.

Previous experience

Before he joined Acuris in 2012, Craig spent several years leading sales teams at many global consultancy and research businesses across EMEA and Australia.

David Lore

Senior Editor, Asia-Pacific, PaRR Asia

Dave Lore began his career in journalism after a stint in the US merchant marines, serving as an ordinary seaman aboard the USS Osprey in the Indian Ocean. His account of the year-long experience, published as a serial by the Philadelphia City Paper, marked the start of a media career spanning some 30 years. A featured commentator on NPR’s Morning Edition in the early 1990s, Lore subsequently moved to Seoul, South Korea to work for several news outlets and media concerns, including Yonhap and LG AD. Moving the Hong Kong in 1998, he began a decades-long affiliation with Asia Private Equity Review, a journal on alternative asset investment in the Asia-Pac, and began filing periodic “postcards” from China for Radio Free Asia. Lore helped launch two English-language broadsheets in the region – Shanghai Daily and IHT-Joongan Ilbo – and went on to serve as China bureau chief for Interfax Information Services (2009-2014) and digital editor at FinanceAsia prior to joining PaRR in December 2016 as Hong Kong-based senior editor.

Qianwen Lu

Reporter, Asia-Pacific, PaRR Asia

Qianwen Lu is a regulatory reporter based in Beijing. While reporting primarily on mergers and acquisitions, Qianwen also covers areas such as anti-corruption enforcement and cybersecurity. Before joining PaRR in June 2016, she covered culture at the English edition of Global Times. Prior to that, she worked at the China International Publishing Group covering the Chinese economy and economic affairs with Africa.

Francesca Micheletti

Head of EU Merger Control Coverage, PaRR Europe

Francesca heads EU merger control coverage from the Brussels bureau. Since joining PaRR in 2012, she has gained an in-depth understanding of the European Commission's merger review process, as well as building a solid network of contacts.

Francesca joined PaRR with eight years of experience in media and public affairs gained in Brussels and Milan. She holds a Master's degree in Journalism as well as a post-graduate diploma in EU Interdisciplinary Studies from the College of Europe.

Before joining PaRR, she worked for a number of media outlets, PR agencies and the European Commission's press office.

Sonu Mohanty

Content Manager, Asia-Pacific, PaRR Asia

Sonu previously worked on the news desks of several financial publications, such as ET.com and NDTV Profit.com. She is now responsible for coordinating PaRR’s aggregated content across Asia.

Yanita Morris

Editor in Chief, Global Equities

As Editor in Chief of Global Equities, Yanita Morris manages the editorial teams of Mergermarket, dealReporter and PaRR globally. She comes with over 15 years’ experience of working in financial markets, first as a practitioner in credit markets and later as a financial reporter and editor. With that she brings significant knowledge and experience of covering complex financial markets in changing regulatory environment across borders. During her time at Acuris, she has been the driving force behind several significant product launches around the world, including mergermarket Russia & CIS, dealReporter North America, dealReporter Asia Pacific Convertible Bonds, and most recently mergermarket’s ECM platform. Before her appointment to Global Editor in Chief of dealReporter and mergermarket, Yana worked in the London, New York, Hong Kong and Moscow bureaus of Acuris, covering everything from specific sector beats, M&A deals to litigations and complex structured products. Fluent in several languages, Yana previously worked at the European Bank for Reconstruction & Development and Dana Commercial (USA) as a credit analyst.

Rachel Mountain

Head of Content, PaRR Europe

Rachel works from the London office, covering updates from competition authorities across Europe. She spent two years reporting from London courts including the Old Bailey, Southwark Crown Court and the High Court where she covered high-profile trials for a specialist court news wire.  She has experience covering competition cases, fraud trials, extradition hearings and tribunals, as well as infamous trials that have hit the national and international media. Rachel is an experienced news editor who worked on magazines in the health sector before joining PaRR in September 2016.

Jacob Parry

Legal Affairs Reporter

Jacob is a based in our Brussels office, covering antitrust and competition issues. Prior to joining PaRR, Jacob worked as a financial journalist in Canada covering energy, mining and real estate for such publications as The Globe and Mail, Stockhouse and Business in Vancouver.

Jacob has a degree in History, Political Science and Slavic Studies from McGill University in Montreal. He speaks English, French and Russian.

Freny Patel

News Editor, Asia-Pacific, PaRR Asia

Based in our Mumbai office, Freny is highly skilled at reporting on, and analyzing developments in, the Indian and South East Asian markets, identifying how global regulatory changes impact emerging Asian markets. She has an excellent track record in covering M&A antitrust cases in India and South East Asia. Prior to joining PaRR, Freny was Associate Editor for mergermarket in Asia where she covered the South East Asian energy, telecom and financial services sectors, with a particular focus on regulatory and competition issues. Freny has over ten years’ reporting and editing experience, having worked for local newspapers in both India and Hong Kong. She was Chief of Bureau at Observer of Business & Politics in India where she had her own Insurance Regulatory column. Thereafter, she joined Business Standard, the second largest financial daily in India where, in addition to heading the Banking Bureau as an editor, Freny also worked on a number of business supplements, including two in collaboration with the South African Embassy to promote Indo-South African ties.

Carmen Perales

Legal Writer

Carmen joined the Brussels office in November 2017 to write about EU and national competition issues. With a degree in journalism from the Complutense University of Madrid, she has been working in the ambit of the EU since 2009 as a communication officer for Galicia’s regional office in Brussels, the European Commission and for two cross-border EU programmes. She previously edited several local media in Spain and worked as a press officer for the Spanish Economic and Commercial Office in China. She is fluent in Spanish, English and French.

Khushita Vasant

Legal Affairs Reporter, EMEA, PaRR Europe

Based in our Brussels office, Khushita writes about standard essential patent litigation and regulatory issues in the tech, media and telecom sectors in Europe. Prior to joining PaRR, Khushita was a financial journalist in India, writing about monetary policy, and the volatility in the fixed income and foreign exchange markets for Dow Jones Newswires and The Wall Street Journal from Mumbai. She began her career in 2008 with The Press Trust of India news agency to cover India’s finance and petroleum ministries, and later moved to Mumbai where she tracked corporate developments in the energy sector. Khushita previously worked as a researcher and editor for the Academic Council on the UN System and UN Office on Drugs and Crime in Vienna. She is fluent in English and several Indian languages.

Lisha Zhou

Managing Editor, China, PaRR Asia

In her role as Consulting Editor for PaRR in China, Lisha focuses on cross-border M&A deals and policy and regulatory development in the region, with a focus on state and local regulatory agencies. Lisha joined Acuris in September 2005, as the Bureau Chief of the Shanghai Representative Office. She is a leading authority in cross-border M&A transactions in China and has devoted the last seven years of her career looking at every aspect of M&A deal requiring regulatory approval in the region. As a result, she has developed a strong following among market participants in Asia, Europe and North America. Among the many major stories she has broken was the conditional approval by MOFCOM of Inbev/Anheuser Busch deal in 2008. She was also one of the few reporters who signaled potential problems in the Coca Cola/Huiyuan Juice deal that was consequently blocked by MOFCOM. Lisha has more than 20 years’ journalism experience, including 11 years spent at the Shanghai Securities News (SSN), where she was promoted to Senior Editor, and three years at China Daily.
