Regulators across the globe and legal practitioners gathered in Auckland, New Zealand recently for the Commerce Commission’s Competition Matters 2019 conference on 25 and 26 July, to discuss the intersection of competition, consumer and data privacy laws to address the challenges posed by the digital economy. In-house counsel and legal practitioners gave their perspective on how the digital economy should not be over-regulated as some authorities tend to err on the side of caution and propose blocking M&A transactions.
